UNCOMMON CONFECTIONS. MADE BY HAND. WITH LOVE.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN??
(in Poland and Russia) an old woman or grandmother.
(in Vermont) one who feeds you delicious cookies.
Hi. I'm Shana and I’ve always had a deep, emotional connection to preparing and sharing food.
My childhood memories are punctuated by the flavors of my grandmothers’ Jewish holiday cooking, the smell of smoked shad and funnel cakes at my elementary school’s annual fair, and the holiday cookies my mother and I mixed, rolled, cut, and baked together every December. This is how I measure time.
When I started Sweet Babu as a small farmers market stand, I had a mission: to elevate and share the comfort foods of my childhood with my community in Vermont.
Starting with the sweets I loved most, including some staples from both my grandmothers' kitchens, I updated the traditional dishes to incorporate new flavors, fresh and local ingredients, and from scratch techniques.
Since the early days as a seasonal business toiling away in a tiny home kitchen with a temperamental oven, we have expanded into wholesale and catering with a healthy blend of substance and style!
